Happy union: KM and the cloud?

Happy union: KM and the cloud? | collaboration | Scoop.it
Cloud computing and big data appear to be a new technology marriage made in heaven. For many organizations, the cloud and big data could crack the knowledge management problem.

"Google Trends suggests that “knowledge management” is a term rarely searched for anymore. "Bain’s Management Tools and Trends survey doesn’t list it in the top 25 tools for the 2015 or 2013 surveys; it was included before that. "More subjectively, although I am supposedly an expert on the topic, hardly anybody ever asks me to speak or consult about it".

Pál Kerékfy's insight:

Én azt gondolom, hogy a tudáskezelés valóban küzd problémákkal, és a hagyományos értelemben vett tudáskezelés abban a formában sose lesz igazán a középpontban. Miért?

To control or not to: only you can prevent redundant communities

To control or not to: only you can prevent redundant communities | collaboration | Scoop.it
Q: Should an enterprise take steps to avoid having multiple communities or Enterprise Social Network (ESN) groups for the same topic?A: This is an important question, with no consensus on the right answer. In the Communities Manifesto, one of the 10 principles is "Minimize redundancy in communities. Before creating a new one, check if an existing community already addresses the topic."Q: Shouldn't anyone who wants to start a community or ESN group be able to do so?A: Some people believe that all social media should be offered on a self-serve basis and that anyone should be able to c

Majority of U.S. Employees Not Engaged Despite Gains in 2014

Majority of U.S. Employees Not Engaged Despite Gains in 2014 | collaboration | Scoop.it
U.S. employee engagement rose from 29.6% in 2013 to 31.5% in 2014. The increase marks the highest reading on engagement since 2000, but it still reflects a workforce where less than one-third of employees are engaged in their jobs.
Pál Kerékfy's insight:

A dolgozóknak csak 31,5%-a elkötelezett („engaged” – azaz teszi oda magát a munkában).

A maradék „not engaged”: 51% és „actively disengaged”: 17,5%. Vajon az aktív nem-elkötelezettség miben nyilvánul meg?

Social Learning Handbook 2014 | Jane Hart

Although social learning is something that we have always done, it has often been ignored or misunderstood by the training industry. Now, however, the proliferation of social tools makes this a powerful way to improve workplace performance. When we consider what social learning means inside an organization, it’s not just adding social media to instructional programmes or letting people interact with one another. It’s more about helping people learn from one another as they work together – enhanced by collaborative enterprise social tools. Learning in today’s networked workplace is not just being trained to do a task, but about learning with and from one another as we face new challenges. In the connected enterprise there is a new role for HR, OD, and L&D  departments. This book looks at some of the key ways that organizations can start to support social workplace learning.
